No, we don't know how to pronounce it either... So, from now on we'll just refer to it as the GC-01. It is an affordable and really well featured compact combination Geiger Counter and Dosimeter, sensitive to the three commonest types of ionising radiation, namely Beta, Gamma and X-Rays.

There's a large colour, backlit LCD screen with both numeric and graphical elements. And it really is a Geiger Counter, with relative levels displayed in counts per second (cps) and counts per minute (cpm), and a Dosimeter, displaying real time, average and maximum dose, with user-set alarms, current and cumulative dose rates, in international standard micro Sieverts (μSv) and micro Sieverts per hour (μSv/hr), plus old school micro Grays per hour (μGy/h) and milli Roentgen per hour (mR/h). Exposure levels can also be displayed graphically, and the screen also shows current time and date, elapsed time, battery level and selected functions. A red LED event and alarm flasher, alarm sounder and silent vibration alarm are also included. 

Readings are saved when the instrument is shut down, and we mustn't forget to mention that the GC-01 is incredibly cheap to run as it is powered by an internal rechargeable 1100mAh Lithium Ion battery (USB-C charge lead supplied). The case has soft-grip surround, the display and menu language is in English or Chinese and it comes with an unusually informative instruction booklet. keypad controls are easy to use and navigate. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION,BEWARE CLONES & COPIES!

The Frinsi GC-01 has deservedly become one of the most popular pocket-size instruments currently available.

However, NOT ALL GC-01s ARE EQUAL!

Many of the the ones currently on sale, often -- but not always -- at markedly lower prices, are inferior copies, clones or re-brands. They are next to useless as they use a Geiger Tube detector with significantly lower sensitivities than the popular J321 tube for which the GC-01 was designed. They usually lack the 'vibration' alarm and backup battery functions, and often have lower capacity, single-cell batteries.

This is in spite of the sales blurb frequently claiming they have the full feature set. They look pretty much the same, though the distinctive Frinsi label is often missing from the instrument and packaging, and they are typically much cheaper than the original

PLEASE NOTE that the 'standard' Frinsi GC-01 Instruments that we supply are the the genuine article, the original specification, with the J321 GM tube, latest official firmware, vibration function backup battery and so on.

GC-01 Plus
This adds an event beeper - it's a function that we always thought to be a good idea, so we fitted it. Incidentally, it can be turned off when you don't want to attract attention or pitchfork wielding locals; just use the unit's LED flasher on/off option on the settings menu to mute the sound.

GC-01 SE (Solar Edition)  More coming...?

This one is for the outdoors type who may not always have access to a charging facility. The 80 x 45mm solar panel, mounted on the rear of the case can keep the internal battery topped up or, in bright sunshine, from flat to full charge in just a few hours*.

GEIGERDOME DUAL MODE CHARGING DOCK

This is a specially designed, 3D printed dual charger, topped by a removable Borosilicate glass dome which can keep your GC-01 up and running, protected, and still easy to get at, for as long as you want or need. There's  two sources of  power; it comes with a standard USB C cable, for connection to any USB charging source (plug-in mains adaptor or wall socket, PC, power bank and so on.) If you're off the grid or there's a power cut, the dome has its own built-in Solar Panel, with internal battery discharge protection. This will power and charge the GC-01 for as long as it exposed to sunlight; even on a cloudy day it can increase to battery running times during continuous operation*. Don't worry if you already own a GC-01, the Geigerdome is available separately, or together with a GC-01, see the drop-down menu next to the Add To Basket for options.  

* Your mileage may vary... Actual charge time depends on the strength of the sun, and positioning of the unit for maximum exposure.
