We do not intentionally or knowingly plant cookies on our website or your devices. Like most of you, we consider them an intrusive nuisance but what can you do? By using our website you agree to this Policy and you willingly (or unknowingly) consent to others using cookies in accordance with the terms of this Policy'.

We'll also try, for as long as possible, to avoid using those incredibly annoying opening page Cookie Agreement pop-ups, that stop you accessing a website without having to jump through mouse-intensive hoops, ticking boxes, flicking switches or wading through interminable lists of stuff you don't want, need or understand, only to find some comedian has put a 'Decline All' button at the bottom of the page...

More About Cookies
A cookie is a small file, which asks permission from you or your your browser to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. If you have agreed, by choices made by you or set by default in your browser’s settings. The file is added and at the most basic level it helps analyse web traffic or lets you and others know when you visit a particular site. Cookies also allow web applications to tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

There are two main kinds of cookies: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies. Session cookies only last for the duration of users using the website and are deleted from your computer when you close your browser, whereas persistent cookies outlast user sessions and remain stored on your computer until deleted, or until they reach their expiry date.

Cookies are supposed to help provide you with a better website, by enabling whoever put them there to monitor which pages you find useful and those you do not.

Cookies should not contain any information that personally identifies you, or gives access to your computer or any information about you. Whilst cookies cannot carry viruses they can be hijacked and planted in a cyber attack or whilst visiting fraudulent or fake websites and used to steal personal information, access files and all sorts of other bad stuff. N.B. we are not fake or fraudulent!

IMPORTANT!
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

We do not knowingly use  persistent cookies on this website that provide links to social network sharing services, and to update you on popular content.

Third Party Cookies
We do not use third party cookies.

Google Analytics
Google can use cookies to help improve a website’s usability and for marketing purposes. They may also use cookies to identify which pages are being used. This is for data analysis relating to webpage traffic. Although this information is available to us for statistical analysis purposes, we choose not to use it. However, Google stores and uses this information. Google’s privacy policy is available at www.google.com/privacypolicy.html.

Security

We take this very seriously and information sent to and from our website is protected by powerful, industry-standard 256-bit SSL encryption. This is applied automatically as soon as you proceed to the Checkout stage. You can verify that SSL encryption is enabled by checking that the web address prefix changes to https://, and the secure 'Padlock' symbol appears on your browser's status bar or next to the site's web address.

Return Policy

We go to a lot of trouble to make sure goods are properly packed but things can go wrong. We will replace damaged items, provided they are returned to us immediately and either replace them or issue a refund, and re-imburse you for shipping. Needless to say we will also replace or refund faulty items, but in all cases it is vitally important that you contact us as soon as possible.

We will always try to help resolve problems with faulty or misbehaving items. The instruments we sell are normally very reliable so please, check the obvious first, like making sure that you've read the instructions, and where applicable fitted fresh batteries or fully charged the battery. *In the case of Geiger Counters please see the section at the bottom of this page. We will, of course replace items found to be faulty. The cost of returning non-faulty items within the 7 day cooling-off period (under the UK distance selling regulations) is at the purchaser’s expense. Please be aware that we will charge a 10% re-stocking fee in these cases.

Unfortunately we couldn't avoid the heavy-sounding legal stuff altogether…

Refusal of Transaction

We reserve the right to cancel an order at any time. We also reserve the right to add, change or remove any content on this website. We may refuse to process a transaction for any reason or refuse to service anyone at any time at our discretion. We will not be liable to you or any third party for withdrawing any product from this website; cancelling, refusing or changing an order; adding, changing or removing any material or content on the website; or the late delivery of a product or order in circumstances where it is beyond our control (i.e. failure of deliver service or carrier, local Customs services and so on).

After submitting an order to us we will send you an order acknowledgement email together with any relevant shipping details. Any email acknowledgement by us of receipt of an order placed by you does not constitute legal acceptance by us of your order. Acceptance of your order and the formation of a contract between us will take place when we send you an email confirming that the goods you have ordered have been dispatched to you unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it in accordance with our cancellation and returns policy.

Delivery Services

We try really hard to send out orders received and paid for by 15.00 hrs (Monday to - Friday) the same day. Orders received after that, and at the weekend will be dispatched on the following Monday (providing it's not a public holiday). Occasionally we're out of the office; or due to circumstances beyond our control we sometimes miss our deadline but we'll always do our best to try and let you know

Most UK orders will be sent by Royal Mail 2nd class post - higher value items such as Geiger Counters are sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery service. Glass items are sent 1st class post. Larger items are sent via courier service - usually Parcel Force - with full tracking information forwarded to the buyer.

Items going outside the UK will by sent by either standard air mail - higher priced items by tracked/signed-for air mail - again tracking details will be provided. We also use couriers for larger items - again full details will be provided.

Please be aware that items sent to non-UK addresses can sometimes take longer to arrive, due to local Customs & Postal services. Where possible, we give an estimated arrival window. However, we must advise you that items going to some locations (such as South America, Africa, Far East etc) can take up to 2 months due to local Custom Service procedures.

If items get lost in transit we will do our best to find out why this has happened. Finding out this information can take as long as 3 months in the most extreme cases: don't worry - we will replace the lost item well before then!

We take great care when packing items so they arrive safely and we also pride ourselves on being eco-friendly and recycle ‘till the pips squeak…

Lastly, if there are any delays when sending out your items, we will let you know. There are times when we are away from the office, but we will contact you as soon as is practical.

Prices

Although we endeavour to ensure that all pricing information on the Website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and goods or shipping may be mis-priced. If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion, either:contact you and ask you whether you wish to cancel your order or continue with the order at the correct price; or notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply goods at the incorrect price.

We reserve the right to adjust prices, goods and specifications of goods on the Website at our discretion at any time before (but not after) we have taken payment for your order.

My Geiger Counter Doesn't work - what next?

There's a good chance it's okay - they are usually very reliable - and the lack of clicks and flashes could be a good sign, it means background radiation levels are very low where you live. Providing it clicks at least once or twice a minute then it is almost certainly working.

Other reasons why it might appear not to work is the battery; please make sure you use a fresh battery and that it has been inserted the right way around (you’d be surprised…). All Geiger counters are tested before they leave us. If you still feel that it is faulty, then please let us know and return it to us – with its original packing – within 30 days of purchase and we will check it for you. If it is found to be faulty we either fix it or send a replacement and reimburse your postage costs (when returned via standard/recorded mail).

Warranty:

Unless stated otherwise all refurbished and second - user instruments are covered by an unconditional exchange or refund if found to be faulty within 6 months of purchase. New instruments are covered by manufacturers' warranties (typically12 months after purchase) and your statutory rights are unaffected.

IMPORTANT: SUITABILITY, SAFETY & CALIBRATION
None of the instruments that we supply, maintain or repair are intended for, endorsed or recommended or necessarily suitable for Health and Safety or safety-critical applications or compliant with regulatory, statuary or legal requirements. Always consult an approved or accredited industry expert or get professional advice if you are seeking an instrument for these types of applications.

Do not attempt to dismantle your Geiger counter or dosimeter. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Instrument cases may be fitted with tamper-evident seals and any attempt to fiddle with the innards -- and we will know -- will invalidate the warranty (you might also get a small shock: the circuitry inside generates up to 1000 volts on some models!). Use of an unapproved or unsuitable DC power supply or charger will almost certainly damage the instrument and invalidate the warranty.

The calibration and maintenance of the instruments that we sell or service are confined to the testing and adjustment of the ratemeter/counter portions of the device. Whenever possible the checks that we carry out conform to the instrument manufacturer's recommended or specified methods and protocols. Whilst we also check the operation of probes, this only relates to basic functionality and performance, using certified test sources and does not account for ageing or deterioration of probe components, that may affect sensitivity or suitability for a particular application.

Please get in touch with us first before returning any instrument or product, via the Contact Us button below, or email (thebunker@anythingradioactive.com) - we can usually offer a solution to most problems.
